August 2022 Update

The film has undergone massive growth in the last few months. I have been getting feedback from a mix of professional consultants, activists, and people completely unfamiliar with this issue. I am proud to say that, according to Doug Blush, one of our consulting editors, we are officially in “Fine Cut” status!!! This is huge! That means the bulk of the work is behind us and the final polishing steps can begin. Here’s a little more about what that is looking like…

A New Round of Fundraising

Now that the film is nearly finished being edited, I will be hiring a dedicated Impact Producer/Fundraiser to help me develop relationships with sponsors, partners, and funders so we can polish the film and achieve the maximum impact with the film. This includes a custom score, archival licensing, festival fees, a marketing campaign, and a website with extensive resources to channel the energy created by the film. Here is an outline of our fundraising levels:

$60k: Executive Producer Credit

$30k: Co-Execultive Producer Credit

$10k: Associate Producer Credit

$6k: Partner Level Benefits

$3k: Sponsor Level Benefits

There are various perks and benefits to each level of funding, including hosting a virtual or in-person screening. If you know any individual or organization that might like to join us as a funder, please put us in touch.

Work-in-Progress Screenings

We are starting to host work-in-progress screenings to test some final editing choices, and to raise awareness and finishing funds. We also have several leads in the works. If you would like to volunteer for us on the Impact Campaign to help spread awareness of the issue, please contact us! We would love to work with you!

Motion Graphics Artist - Joe Presser

I found the motion graphic design work of Joseph Presser through his Vimeo portfolio and his passion for this project along with his unique style and skills made him the perfect choice for the role of Graphic Designer for the film. We have a list of about 100 graphics that the film needs and we started with the most intensive: an animated scene about Colorado Rising’s 2018 ballot initiative journey. Below you will see an example of how our work is progressing from storyboard to rough sketch to first version to animated version.

Composer - Daniel Plane

Daniel Plane is a master of the cello and his music gives me the inspiring feeling I want to infuse into the film. I first met Daniel back in 2019 in a recording studio in Boulder. I was very moved by his musical talent and overall presence. Since then, I have enjoyed his recordings I’ve heard over social media. After I reached out and we began a conversation around the film, he sent me some sample sketches for themes and I knew I found the right composer. He is skilled at cello, piano, violin, and guitar and will be composing the main themes for the score. Here are those sample sketches to give you a lo-fi sense of where we are headed:

Our New Website

Welcome to the new version of the website! I’m so excited to include new aspects, like Reviews and this project updates blog. Soon, we will be adding a “Join the Movement” section full of resources and updates, local and global, for the audience to pursue after they have seen the film. Thanks to Squarespace for innovating this elegant new version of their platform.

Take Action

We are hiring an Impact Partner/Fundraiser! If you are interested, apply here and please share with your network.
